Obituary of Leon Simpson
Leon "Harry" Simpson, age 88, of Painted Post, NY passed away on Thursday, January 10, 2019 at his home. He was born in Thurston, on July 23, 1930, the son of Gilbert and Edith Eaton Simpson. He was married to Virginia Tifft on May 4, 1984 in Curtis, NY.
Harry loved the Lord and was an integral part in the founding of the Curtis Baptist Bible Church, Campbell in 1956. He was a self-taught musician who was able to play by ear. He fluently played the organ, accordion, harmonica, and guitar.Harry retired from Corning Hospital working in the cafeteria. One of his favorite past times was mowing his lawn on his John Deere lawn tractor.
He is survived by his nieces: Lynn Ball of Campbell, NY, Laura Dewinde of Rochester, NY; great nieces and nephews: Jeremy Ball, Nathaniel Ball, Tiffany Ball, Zachary Dewinde, and Meghan Dewinde. Along with his parents, he is predeceased by his wife, Virginia Simpson on February 16, 2004; brother, Arthur Simpson; twin sister, Leone Schonher.
Family and friends are invited to call at Curtis Baptist Bible Church, 4297 Tannery Road, Campbell, NY on Wednesday, January 16, 2019 from 3:00pm-4:00pm. A funeral service will immediately follow at 4:00pm with Rev. Dale Ingraham officiating. Burial will be in Seamans Cemetery in Savona at the convenience of the family.
