Gregory R. Nehring, 74 years of Rocky Point, NC and formerly of Corning, NY passed away unexpectedly on Wednesday, November 14, 2018 at New Hanover Regional Medical Center in Wilmington, NC, surrounded by family members. He was born on May 23, 1944 in Corning, NY, the son of Ferdinand H. Nehring and Geraldine (Jean) (Winslow) Nehring Call.
Greg was employed with the City of Corning Water Dept. as a heavy equipment operator for many years until he retired. Following retirement he relocated to North Carolina, where he continued working 10 years as a heavy equipment operator on new housing developments in Wilmington and surrounding areas.
Greg was an avid sportsman, hunter and fisherman. He also enjoyed and spent many hours restoring older fishing boats.
He is survived by his daughter, Toi (Edward Mixey) Nehring of Corning, NY, son, Gregory (Kristy) Nehring II of Mount Juliet, TN, grandchildren, Zachary, James, Shannon Mixey, Brittaney (Tyler) Carr and Danny Nehring, 2 great grandchildren, Ryan and Eliza. Greg is also survived by his brother, Hap (Diane) Nehring of Painted Post, NY and his sister, Patricia (David) Ashley of Leland, NC along with many nieces and nephews.
It was Greg's wish that there be no formal services. A graveside service will be held at the Coopers Plains Cemetery at the convenience of the family.
