Obituary of Edward DeGraw
Edward Donald DeGraw, age 82, of Corning, passed away on Tuesday, February 20, 2018 at Robert Packer Hospital. He was born on July 31, 1935 in Elmira, the son of Charles C. and Violet L. Knight DeGraw.
Edward was a graduate of Elmira's Southside High School and the Syracuse School of Barbering. He was a veteran of the US Army and a lifetime member of the Masonic Lodge. Edward was owner and operator of Ed's Barber Shop in Painted Post. He enjoyed camping, hiking, traveling, reading, playing pool at the Corning Senior Center and spending time with two special children that called him Grandpa.
He is survived by his partner, Lyle Wasson, daughters Kelly (Jon) Lewis, Shannon Moran, Colleen (John) Dobson, and Jennifer Wasson, grandchildren, Jackie Gibbons, Megan Kosty, Katelyn Force, John Dobson, Alyssa Dobson, Anna Goudreau, and Aidan Goudreau, great grandson Mason Kosty, sister Carolyn Briggs, and several nieces and nephews. Edward was predeceased by his parents, a brother Clifford, and a sister Illine LaBauve.
It was Edward's wish that there be no calling hours. Family and friends are invited to attend a graveside and military honor service on Saturday, March 3, 2018 at 10:00 am at St. Mary's Mausoleum.
