Obituary of Margaret Harris
Margaret May Harris, age 90, of Corning, NY passed away on Saturday, January 20, 2018 at her home. Margaret was born October 21, 1927 in Campbell, NY to Clarence and Myrtle (Stickler) Sutton. She married LeRoy F. Harris on Nov 17th, 1945 at Linwood, CA. They have spent 72 wonderful years together. The love that LeRoy and she shared was special and only grew stronger over the years.
Margaret was all about family. She adored her grandchildren and the family would often joke that she collected grandchildren. She enjoyed flea markets, golfing, and attending doll shows. She was an avid doll collector amassing hundreds of priceless dolls. This is a passion she bestowed on her husband, LeRoy.
For most of her life, Margaret also shared her love with many dogs. There was never a time she did not have a dog. Her loving companion Blondie is greatly missing her loving affection since her passing.
She is survived by her husband of 72 years: LeRoy F. Harris; Jerry (Judith) Harris of Bath, Philip Harris of Niagara Falls, NY; brother: Leonard Sutton of Campbell, NY; 11 grandchildren: Jerry Tanner, Jennifer Harris, Audra Hurlburt, Sherry Peeso, Melody Harris-Caraballo, Joshua Wigle- Harris, Shelly Pontore, Justin Harris, Ricky Sutton, Jessica Beyer, Laura Ann Sutton; 24 great grandchildren; along with several nieces and nephews.
Along with her parents, she was predeceased by her son, Philip Lee Harris; two brothers: Donald and Ralph Sutton; sister: Pauline
Family and friends are invited to call at Phillips Funeral Home & Cremation Service, 17 W. Pulteney St. Corning, NY 14830 on Tuesday, January 23 from 1:00pm-4:00pm. A funeral service will be held immediately following at 4:00pm with Reverend Gill Mitchell officiating.
Burial will be in Coopers Plains Cemetery at the convenience of the family.
