Richard “Dick” Eugene Ballinger, age 73, of Campbell passed away unexpectedly on Thursday, July 6, 2017 at Robert Packer Hospital. Richard was born on June 20, 1944 in Corning, the son of Virgil E. and Ruth M. (Cortright) Ballinger.
Richard was employed by the Town of Bradford Highway Department for many years. Previously he was employed by Jim Fuller Chevrolet of Painted Post. Richard enjoyed crossword and jigsaw puzzles, the Christmas season, and above all else, being with his large family. His nieces, nephews, and great nieces and nephews were treated as his own children. Richard had immense love for his family and cherished them dearly.
He is survived by, two sisters, Carol (Douglas) Kellogg of Beaver Dams and Dorothy Costa of Pine City, one brother, Gary (Carole) Ballinger of Corning, nieces and nephews, Kimberly (Ron) Mullikin of Campbell, Deborah (Dana) Tyler of Tyrone, Diane Strawser of Elmira, Gregory Strawser of Caton, Linda Tokar of Horseheads, Teri (Timothy) Bagley of Corning, and Cindy (Mark) Raker of Corning, several great nieces and great nephews, great-great nieces and great great nephews, and his best feline friend, Maggie. In addition to his parents, Richard was predeceased by his brother, Charles Ballinger and brothers-in-law Peter Costa and Robert Strawser.
A private graveside service will be held at the convenience of the family at Chapel Knoll Cemetery.
