Obituary of Karen Ayers

Karen Ayers, 60 of Corning NY, passed away just 88 days after being diagnosed with lung cancer.

"We all think my mom is amazing and we will miss her advice. She was never judgmental and accepted everyone just the way they are." said her 1st born daughter Kristy Kimball (Matt), adding that Karen was a fighter until the very end and she had many people cheering her on. "To have that mom that all of our friends called mom is the type of mother she was, she was a remarkable grandmother, mother, wife, daughter, sister, aunt, cousin and friend to many" Jennifer LeBaron (Brad) her 2nd born daughter commented.

Karen ended up marrying the "man of her dreams", Jeff Ayers, it would have been 41 years on October 16. She then fell in love with her grandchildren Kurtis Kimball and Inez LeBaron, they were the epitome of her existence, going wherever those kids were months on end to care for them from Tennessee, to Kansas, to Georgia, back to Tennessee, wherever her girls moved she was there to fill those grand babies with love.

Karen had the chance to know and love each and every friend as well as her family members. How much more blessed can a person be?

Karen's favorite pastimes were whatever the grandchildren or her girls were doing, watching her husband play baseball in the early years and softball to follow. She enjoyed watching her girls play softball as well. Having lunch with the ladies, sipping on coffee or Bailey's preferably by any body of water but she loved Destin, Florida. Ultimately, just being around her loved ones is what made her world go round.

Karen prided herself in taking care of others which led her into taking care of people at Bethany Village. After Bethany, she became an assistant at GMAC Financing. She then became a CNA at Elcor for over 20 years.

She is survived by her husband, Jeff Ayers; two daughters, Kristy (Matthew) Kimball of Painted Post, Jennifer (Brad) LeBaron of Corning; father, George Turner of Horseheads; brother, Daniel (Susan) Turner of Bluffton, SC; grandchildren, Kurtis Kimball and Inez LeBaron; Soul Sister "sister in law", Kathy (David) Robenolt of Painted Post; brother's in law, Greg (Jean) Ayers of Corning, Duke (Joyce) Ayers of New Holland, PA, Kevin (Robin) Ayers of Myrtle Beach, SC, Rocky (Donna) Ayers of Corning, NY; aunt and uncle, Stu and Edna Morrison of Corning, along with many wonderful nieces and nephews and their children.

She was predeceased by her grandparents, Walter and Inez Reed; her mother, Ann Turner; mother and father in law, Helen and Robert Ayers; aunt and uncle, Roberta and Emery Knapp.

Family and friends are invited to call at Phillips Funeral Home & Cremation Service, 17 W. Pulteney St. Corning, NY 14830 on Sunday, July 16, 2017 from 11:00am-1:00pm. A memorial service will immediately follow.
