Obituary of Joan Cotter

Joan B. Grover Cotter, age 85, of Lisle, NY passed away on Thursday, March 30, 2017 at Elizabeth Church Manor of Binghamton, NY. She was born July 3, 1931 in Corning, NY to Charles and Elizabeth (Krebs) Burgett.

Joan was employed as a loan officer by First Heritage FCU until 1996. Following her retirement, she moved to Ocala, FL, dividing her time between FL and South Seaville, NJ. After a fall in 2013 she moved to Lisle to be near her children. Joan was a kind and loving woman, who enjoyed spending time at the New Jersey shore.

She is survived by two daughters: Kathleen(Scott) Grover Dixon of Lisle, NY; Roxanne (Lorin) Grover Storch of Elmira; grandchildren: Kimberlee Carter of Whitney Point, NY, Shannon (Butchie) Heatherman of Lisle, NY, Scott (Lacey) Dixon Jr of Port Crane, NY, Kyle(Jennifer) Dixon of Lisle, NY; great grandchildren: Makayla, Airyana, Aaliyah, Kaleb, Holden, Jamison, Lily, Parker, Jensen, Jason, Isabella, Hayden; 9 step children: Terry (Mary Jane)Cotter , Shane Cotter, Kathleen(Walt) Ackley, Mary Jo(Steve) Glover, Bridget (Steve) Graver, Susie Cotter, Maureen Linn, Timothy Cotter, Jon Cotter; numerous step grandchildren and great grandchildren; sister-in-law: Ruth Green; special niece: Donna Jean Callihan, special nephew Stephen Burgett along with many other nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by husbands: Clyde Travis, Delson Grover, and Anthony Cotter; twin sister: Jean Bernas; brother: Thomas Burgett; step son: Michael Cotter; special companion: Robert "Curly" Niemen

Family and friends are invited to call at Phillips Funeral Home & Cremation Service, 17 W. Pulteney St. Corning, NY on Friday, April 7, 2017 from 2:00pm-4:00pm and 7:00pm-9:00pm. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held 9:30am on Saturday, April 8 at St. Mary's Catholic Church, 155 State Street, Corning, NY with Father John Forni officiating. A graveside service will be held at Woodlawn National Cemetery in Elmira, NY on Friday, April 14 at 10:00am.
