Velma L. Kitchen, age 92, of Painted Post, NY passed away unexpectedly on Saturday, February 10, 2018 at Guthrie Corning Hospital. Velma was born June 6, 1925 in Irvona, PA. to Sherman V. and Mary A. (McGarvey) Westover. She married Fay A. Kitchen on June 22, 1946 and was predeceased by him on June 23, 2003.
Velma was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother and will be missed by all who knew her. Velma was a longtime member of the Campbell Christian & Missionary Alliance Church.
She is survived by her two daughters: Patricia A. "Pat" Thompson of Addison, NY and Mary Jane (Jerry) Clark of Painted Post, NY; 5 grandchildren: Pam (Ray) Jones, Connie (James) Nichols, Jeffrey (Ruby) Thompson, Jill Troup, and Ashley (Anthony) Stella; 10 great grandchildren: Joshua (Ashlee) Allington, Rebecca, Thomas, and Anthony Nichols, Brianna (Cody) Lawrence, Alex, Kieran, and Bianca Thompson, Noah and Elijah Troup; 2 great-great grandchildren: Spencer and Rylee Allington, along with several nieces and nephews.
Along with her parents and husband she was predeceased by her siblings; Glenn Westover, Carl Westover, Catherine Conley, Gladys Bell and son in law, Keith Thompson.
Family and friends are invited to call at the Campbell Christian & Missionary Alliance Church, 8766 Route 415, Campbell, NY 14821 on Saturday, February 17, 2018 from 1:00pm-3:00pm. A funeral service will be held at 3:00pm with Rev. Raymond Fritz officiating. She will be laid to rest beside her husband in Campbell Hope Cemetery.
Memorials may be made in Velma's name to the Campbell Christian & Missionary Alliance Church.
