Evelyn Shelley, age 92, formerly of Beaver Dams, passed away on Tuesday, January 30, 2018 at Steuben Centers. She was born on April 9, 1925 in Addison, the daughter of Leo and Marie (Wilson) Oakden. She married Robert Lawrence Shelley in 1949, and he predeceased her in 1993.
Evelyn was a very sweet and loving wife, mother and grandmother who was supportive of her family and their endeavors. She cherished her time as a stay at home Mom. She loved to bake and collect recipes. Her Easter “Bunny” cakes were a big hit with the family. She was an avid NASCAR fan, Tony Stewart was her favorite driver. She spent many Sunday afternoons watching NASCAR races and enjoying NFL Football games. Evelyn will be missed by all who knew her.
She is survived by her children, Diane (Hap) Nehring of Painted Post, Debbie (Wayne) Bugg of Canton, GA, Steven (Ann) Shelley of Corning, and Darlene Shelley of Inverness, FL, grandchildren, Michelle Heffner, Jimmy Bugg, Trevor Bugg, Robert L. Ross, Deborah Knowles, Steven Shelley, Amy Savunen, Jesse Brooks, and James Brooks, and ten great grandchildren. Evelyn was predeceased by her brothers, Wilson "Bill" Oakden and Gerald "Dutch" Oakden, and a sister, Marjorie Card.
It was Evelyn’s wish that there be no formal services. Burial will take place at Addison Rural Cemetery at the convenience of the family.
