Lisa E. (Sortland) Green, age 51, of Pine City, NY passed away on Wednesday, November 22, 2017 at her home surrounded by her family after a long and courageous battle with cancer.
Lisa was born on September 30, 1966 in Elmira, NY, the daughter of the late Leif and Doris L. (Cunningham) Sortland. She was a graduate of Elmira Free Academy and of Elmira Business Institute. She married Gerald Green on October 25, 2003.
She owned and operated the College Avenue Swap Shop and the Southport Swap Shop in Elmira, NY for four years. Lisa was a Toastmasters member for several years. In her free time she will be remembered for her love of reading, writing, drawing and cooking. She enjoyed sight-seeing and traveling – visiting Hawaii, Florida, Canada and many other places. Her greatest joy was her family – she loved spending time with her favorite grand puppy and was a loving, outgoing and caring wife, mother, grandmother, daughter and sister.
She is survived by her husband, Gerald Green of Pine City, NY; daughter, Sabrina (Stephanie) Holmes of Elmira Heights, NY; son, Jordan Holmes of Pine City, NY; mother, Doris Sortland of Elmira, NY; step-grandchildren: Courteney, Olivia, Kallie and Alex Seeley, Carl, Kyle, Ashley and Dylan Fairchild; sisters: Elizabeth (Jon) Abbey and Linda (Lee) Harvey; Sister and Brother-In-Law Beatrice and Tom Erwin; and niece, Amber Nogar.
Lisa was predeceased by her father, Leif Sortland and husband, Nathaniel Holmes.
Family and friends are invited to call on Wednesday, November 29, 2017 from 10:00 am – 12:00 pm at Phillips Funeral Home & Cremation Service, 17 W. Pulteney St., Corning, NY. A funeral service will immediately follow at the funeral home at 12:00 pm, Pastor Bill Vallet officiating. Burial will take place in the family plot in Grove Cemetery, Bath, NY.
