Phyllis I. French, age 85, of Beaver Dams, passed away on Monday, October 9, 2017 at Guthrie Corning Hospital. She was born on August 18, 1932 in Elmira, the daughter of Harry Major Hoyt and Juanita Elizabeth (Vunk) Hoyt. She married Ralph Irving French on July 1, 1950. He predeceased her on January 1, 2000.
Phyllis enjoyed traveling to the ocean especially Virginia Beach and Ocean City, Maryland. She liked Thanksgiving Dinners, crocheting, and she had an extensive angel and cherub collection. Phyllis previously worked at P&C in the deli, she was a clerk at Newberry's, and she was a member of the Lioness Club and the Moose Lodge.
She is survived by her daughter, Yvonne M. White, grandchildren, Melissa (David) Thompson, George White III, and Christopher White, great grandchildren, Cassandra Thompson, Joseph Thompson, Stephen Thompson, Katherine Thompson, Kristopher Thompson, Christina White, Damien White, and their mother and special family friend, Elizabeth Walrath, and Angel Campbell and his mother, Robin Campbell, great great grandchildren, Bryna, Mairead, and Seamus, sister, Jean Hoyt, brother, Harry Guy Hoyt, and feline companion, Kiki. Phyllis was predeceased by her sisters, Betty Shaw and Nina Share and brothers, Richard and Bud Hoyt.
A memorial service will be held at the Horseheads Moose Club on Tuesday October 17th at 5pm with dinner to follow.
