Gloria Mishrell, age 88, left us behind on July 31, 2017. Gloria will forever be missed by many family and friends.
Gloria was born in Johnsonburg, Pennsylvania, on October 21, 1928, the daughter of Wilson and LaRose Detrick. She graduated from Johnsonburg High School in 1946 and then attended beauty school in Erie, Pennsylvania. It was at this time that she met “the man of her dreams.” In 1949 Gloria married Marvin Mishrell. It was a wonderful marriage that lasted 64 years, ending when Marvin passed away in 2014.
Gloria worked as a hairdresser before having children, worked part time at the Sears catalog store in Corning and then worked for many years in the Steuben Glass show room. Gloria loved her job with Steuben and was proud of the product she sold there. She eventually became a manager at Steuben.
Gloria’s number one priority was raising her family. She was a dedicated mother to her three children: Edward Mishrell (spouse Leslie), Karen Welch (spouse Jake), and Kirk Mishrell (spouse Rose). She was also a devoted grandparent to nine grandchildren and five great grandchildren. Gloria’s grandchildren include: Nicole Mishrell Curles, Kirk Mishrell, Kristen Mishrell, Sarah Welch, Daniel Welch, Chelsea Welch Carpenter, Luke Mishrell, Glenn Mishrell, and Annalee Mishrell.
