Margaret D. Personius, age 94, of Bethany Village, formerly of Corning surrendered peacefully into the arms of God on Tuesday, April 18, 2017.
Margaret was born June 2, 1922, the daughter of the late Joseph and Elizabeth Durkin. She married Bruce J. Personius, Sr. in 1950, he predeceased her in 2009.
Margaret is survived by children: Ann Jellison of Corning, Bruce, Jr. (Susan) Personius of Caton, Peggy Personius of Elmira, Stephen Personius of Corning, Christine (Bruce) Earl of South Carolina, Mary Kay (Tim) Dutcher of Corning, Michael (Linda) Personius of Horseheads, John (Paula) Personius of Caton, Jennifer Personius of Elmira; 13 grandchildren: Melanie and Christopher Jellison, Daniel and Mark Personius, Amber and Jessica Earl, Brittany Personius, Bridgett Little, Conner and Carley Personius, Ryan, Lorrie and Elly Dutcher; 9 great grandchildren; sisters: Dolores "Laudy" Overstrom, Eleanor "Pat" Sample; and brother, Joseph Durkin.
She was preceded in death by five other siblings: Bernard, Madeline, Mary Louise, Helen and Gerald; and grandson, Jacob Personius.
She was employed by the New York Telephone Company of Corning, as a telephone operator for ten years before marrying and starting a family with Bruce. She then spent her years raising her nine children and later many grandchildren. She was a parishioner of All Saint's Parish, also volunteering as a lunch mother at St. Vincent's Catholic school. Her greatest joy in life was family. She dedicated her life to being there for her family.
Family and friends are invited to call on Friday, April 21, 2017 from 4:00pm to 6:00pm at Phillips Funeral Home & Cremation Service, 17 W. Pulteney St., Corning, NY. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday, April 22, 2017 at 9:30am at St. Vincent de Paul Church, Corning, Father Lewis Brown officiating. Burial will immediately follow in the family plot in St. Mary's Cemetery, Corning.
