Phillip L. Gardiner Sr, age 77, of Painted Post, born and raised in Cameron Mills, passed away on Thursday, March 30, 2017 at Absolut Care of Three Rivers. He was born on May 5, 1939 at home, the son of the late George and Gladys (Ferguson) Gardiner. He was married to Neva Jackson Gardiner and she predeceased him on November 14, 1998.
Phillip was an active family man who enjoyed spending time with his children and grandchildren, and he adored his feline companion Tinker Bell. He retired from ABB Traction, loved music especially playing his guitar, and playing cards.
He is survived by his children, Phillip Gardiner Jr of Pensacola, FL, Jamie Kelly of Cohoes, NY, Rodney Jackson of Corning, Rick (Marsha) Jackson of Elmira, Kevin (Laurie) Jackson of Bath, Paula (Andy Ferris) Gardiner of Bath, Tonya Galligan of AK, Monica (Corey) Rice of Campbell, and Fawn (Steve Hamilton) Gardiner of Corning, sisters, Shirley Stamp of Bath, Sandy Gardiner of Campbell, Gladys (Cliff) Gayhart of Castile, NY and Elydia (Thomas) Santee of Hornell, sister-in-law, Thelma Gardiner of Bath, special family friend, Roxanne Hafele of Corning, and many grandchildren and great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and cousins. Phillip was predeceased by seven brothers, four sisters, and many brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law.
Family and friends are invited to attend the celebration of Phillip's life on Thursday, April 6, 2017 at 2:00 pm at Phillips Funeral Home & Cremation Service, 17 W. Pulteney St., Corning. Burial will take place at Townline Cemetery in Cameron Mills at the convenience of the family.
