Biography

Terry L. Velie, age 63, of 7 Race St., Coopers Plains died Monday, July 19, 2010, at Robert Packer Hospital, Sayre, PA. Terry was born on April 23, 1947, the son of the late Clayton and Anne (Smalt) Velie. His mother survives him.

Terry graduated from West High School in Corning. He was employed by Land Air Co., Greenville, TN, where he was a truck driver for many years. He had resided in Tennessee for fifteen years before moving back to Coopers Plains. Terry was a member of the Teamsters Union and enjoyed bowling, golfing, gardening, and working in his yard. He also enjoyed the NY Yankees, NASCAR, and NHRA racing. He was attending the Coopers Plains United Methodist Church.

He is survived by his two daughters: April (Joseph) Divens of Corning, NY, and Holly (James) Ergott of Corning, NY; grandchildren: John and Anthony Kelly of Corning, NY, Alyson Divens of Corning, NY, Jacob, Derick and Jessica Ergott of Corning, NY, and brother, Gregory (Tammy) Velie of Winstom-Salem, NC. Also surviving are many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and cousins. Terry was predeceased by his brother, Rodney Velie.

Calling hours will be Wednesday, July 21st from 5:00 - 7:00 PM at Phillips Funeral Home & Cremation Service, 17 W. Pulteney St., Corning, NY. The funeral will be held at the conclusion of calling hours at 7:00 pm with Rev. Tom Bell officiating. Burial will be in Coopers Plains Cemetery, Painted Post.
