Biography

Willis F. Clark Bill, age 86, died Saturday, July 17, 2010, at Founders Pavilion in Corning. Willis was born in Corning on July 9, 1924, the son of the late Lewis and Pearl (Neal) Clark. He was the husband of Doris Smith who predeceased him on April 1, 2003. Willis attended Northside High School in Corning and served with the U.S. Army from 1943 to 1946 during World War II. He participated in battles in the Ardennes, Central Europe, and in the Rhineland. For his bravery, Bill was awarded three bronze service stars.

He had been employed many years by Corning Glass Works where he was a shipping and receiving associate. Willis was a member of the Corning VFW Post #523.

He is survived by two sisters: Charlotte Koepf of Englewood, FL, and Marjorie Oshanick of Corning, NY; one brother: Robert (Sharon) Clark of Grants Pass, OR; nephews: Phillip (Teresa) Clark of NC, Donald (Jeanette) Clark of Corning, NY, Robert Clark of Grants Pass, OR, and Wellman (Candace) Clark of MD; nieces: Mary (David) Evelyn Saulter of CA and Sharon (William) Ingleton of Venice, FL.

A graveside service with military honors will be held Friday, July 23rd at 10:30 am at Coopers Plains Cemetery in Painted Post.
