Biography

Richard (Rick) Lehman West, Jr., age 53, of Corning passed away peacefully at home after a courageous battle with leukemia on Friday, July 16, 2010. Rick was born on April 9, 1957, to Richard L. West, Sr., and Dorothy (Evans) West of Corning. He was employed by Corning Incorporated for 25 years. He enjoyed spending time with his grandsons and was an avid fisherman and outdoorsman. Rick loved cars and racing. He was not only a wonderful father to his own children, but also for many of his childrens friends as well.

Rick is survived by his parents; his two loving children, Laura West-Golkiewicz of Corning and RJ (Nicole) West of Corning; two special grandsons, Ethan Pronti and Carter West both of Corning; wife of 30 years, Luann West of Corning; two sisters, Kimberley (Josh) Elks of Elmira and Becky (Tom) Speciale of Corning; one brother; Brian West of Corning; and several nieces and nephews.

Friends are invited to the First Presbyterian Church, 1 East First St. Corning on Thursday evening July 22nd from 6 to 7 pm, with a memorial service to follow at 7:00 pm with Rev. Christopher Mathewson officiating. By Richard's request, his ashes will be scattered on Seneca Lake.
