BiographyBorn in Painted Post, NY, on December 28, 1930, she was the daughter of Ralph and Elvira (Greenfield) Champlain. She married Robert Box in 1960 and was preceded in death by him in 2009. Louise retired from East High School in 1986 where she had worked as a secretary to the assistant principal. Louise was an avid bowler and belonged to several leagues. After retirement, she volunteered her time with the board of elections. Louise and her husband were very active with the Corning - Painted Post Sports Hall of Fame and loved to organize the Annual Banquet. She is survived by her daughter, Michele Murphy of New Smyrna Beach, FL: step children: Bobbie Box of North Conway, NH, Leslie O'Connor of Lake Worth, FL; and Robert Samuel (Laura) Box, Jr., of Lakeland, FL; sister, Betty (Glenn) Silvernail of Bath, NY; brother, Pete (Pat) Champlain of Corning; six grandchildren: Melissa, Marjorie, Jessica, Laura, Caitlin, and Michael; and several nieces and nephews. Louise was predeceased by a brother, Frank Champlain, and by her sister, Joyce Morse. Services will be held at the convenience of the family at Phillips Funeral Home & Cremation Service in Corning. Memorials may be made in Louises name to a charity of your choice. |
