Biography
Mr. James Edward "Eddie" McQuillen, 78, died February 20, 2010 at his home in Vero Beach, FL, surrounded by his family. He was a lifetime resident of Corning, NY, and has been a winter resident of Vero Beach since 1994.
Eddie was a graduate of Northside High School, Corning, NY, Class of 1951. He was employed at Dresser Rand Inc., formerly known as Ingersoll Rand Inc. in Painted Post, NY, for 41 years before his retirement in 1992. He served in the US Navy during the Korean War and spent 6 years in the Naval Reserve.
Eddie was a member of St. Anthony Catholic Church, Inlet, NY, and attended St. John of the Cross Catholic Church, Vero Beach, FL.
He was a lifetime member of Caton Fire Department where he served as Fire Chief and EMT, Eddie was a member of the Sebastian Moose Lodge #1822.
Survivors include his wife of 53 years, Joyce McQuillen of Vero Beach, FL, and Eagle Bay, NY; son, James C. (Kathy) McQuillen of Waverly, NY; daughter, Carol (Roy) Stone of Corning, NY; brother, John D. (Bonnie) McQuillen of Vero Beach; sisters, Joan Taylor of Binghamton, NY, and Helen McQuillen of CA; grandchildren: Michael B. Stone and Elizabeth A. Stone, both of Corning, NY, Victoria L. McQuillen, Cory Yost, Brian Yost, Alicia Yost and Phillip Yost, all of Waverly, NY; brothers-in-law, Wayne Riesbeck of Corning, NY, and Mark Riesbeck of Dallas, TX; sisters-in-law, Barbara (Robert) Thomas and Marilyn Nehring (Ted Heagle) both of Corning, NY. Eddie was predeceased by his parents, James F. and Helen McQuillen.
Calling hours will be 9 to 11 am Tuesday, March 2nd at St. Mary's Church, 155 State St., Corning, NY, where a Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 11:00. Burial will be in Elmwood Cemetery, Caton, NY.
