Biography

John F. Bressle, age 79, of Addison died Saturday, January 30, 2010, at Elcor Health Services, Colonial Ridge, Horseheads. John was born in Ridgeway, Pennsylvania on April 25, 1930, the son of the late John Philip and the late Hazel D. (Reese) Bressler.

He was employed by Ingersoll-Rand, Painted Post, NY, where he was a draftsman. John was very active in the American Legion in Corning and the Corning VFW. John served in the U.S. Air Force from 1951 to 1954. He was also an avid hunter and fisherman, along with being a horse racing enthusiast. He was fondly known by his brothers as the "thoroughbred." John enjoyed traveling, especially his last trip to Alaska with all four of his grandsons.

He is survived by his two daughters: Stephanie Bressler of Arnold, MD, Suzette Bressler of Odenton, MD; one son, John (Luella) Bressler of Odenton, MD; one sister, Martha Jean (Richard) Desimone of Irvine, PA; two brothers: James (Frances) Bressler of Chambersburg, PA, and Philip (Debbie) Bressler of Johnsonburg, PA; companion, Ruth Pryslopski of Addison, NY; grandsons: John Robert Bressler, Paul Bressler, Michael Bressler, and Joshua Bressler; two granddaughters, Jennifer Bressler and Audrey Bressler; aunt, Marion Anderson of Cartersville, VA; several nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews and cousins.

John was predeceased by his wife Julia (Schulz) Bressler and brother Fred Bressler.

Friends will be received at the Phillips Funeral Home and Cremation Service, 17 W. Pulteney St. in Corning on Friday, February 5, 2010, from 5-7 PM. A funeral service will be held at the funeral home Saturday, February 6, 2010 at 3 PM. Burial will be in Coopers Plains Cemetery, Painted Post at the convenience of the family with military honors.
