Funeral Service: BiographyIrene Lindemann, age 97, of Kingston, PA died on Monday, January 11, 2009 of natural causes. Irene was born in Kingston, PA on May 9, 1912, the daughter of the late Alex and Laura Papp. She graduated from Kingston High School in 1930 and married Hans Lindemann in 1934. Irene was active throughout her life with civic and community organizations, often serving as an officer of multiple organizations concurrently. She also served as an alderman for one term in Kingston, PA. She will be remembered best for her high spirits and her sense of humor. She is survived by her grandsons Jeffrey Bigler of Boston, MA; Michael Weisman of Dayton, OH; Harris Weisman, of Arizona; her granddaughters Pamela Hendrickson of San Diego, CA; and Susan Weisman of Dayton, OH; and twelve great-grandchildren. Irene was predeceased by her husband, Hans, and her two daughters, Eleanore Weisman and Carole Lindemann Bigler. There will be no prior calling hours. Friends are invited to a memorial service at the First Congregational United Church of Christ, 171 West Pulteney Street, Corning, NY on Saturday, February 20th, at 2:00 p.m., with the Reverend David Ashby officiating. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Southern Tier Hospice, 11751 East Corning Rd., Corning NY 14830. Arrangements have been entrusted to Phillips Funeral Home & Cremation Service, 17 W. Pulteney St. in Corning. |
