Biography

Virginia (Jini) Conant Van Etten, age 88, of 12118 Silver Creek Dr., Houston, TX (most recently of Big Flats, NY) died January 17, 2010, in Houston, TX. She was born December 1, 1921, in Boston, MA, to Wm. E.R and Editha Church Conant. She married Elwyn R. Bim Van Etten January 10, 1945, in Stoneham, MA.

Virginia is survived by her loving husband Bim; son Peter and wife Charleen (Charley) Van Etten of
Houston, TX; sister-in-law Ms. Lois Van Etten, of Penn Valley, CA; nephew Stephen (Sabrina) Van Etten, Grass Valley, CA; niece Laura (David) Collins, Grass Valley, CA; cousins: Vance (Chris) Likins of Bradenton, FL, and Mrs. Dotty Mullen, of W. Bath, ME.

Virginia was an expert Bridge player, loved to read and work crossword puzzles, and dearly loved animals. She was a graduate of Stoneham, MA, High School and Boston University. She was employed by Corning Glass Works and Chemung Canal Trust Company for short periods but was first and foremost a loving housewife and mother.

She was predeceased by her son John Robert Van Etten and her parents. Her 7th Great Grandfather was Roger Conant, Founder of Salem, MA in 1623.

A Memorial Service will be held at a later date at the convenience of the family. Internment will be in Hope Cemetery, Corning, NY.

Remembrances in Virginia's name may be made to Meals on Wheels, Corning, NY; Chemung County SPCA; Houston Food Bank or any other charity of one's choice.
